CUlead is a program aimed at building and enhancing our credit union management staffs' leadership abilities to further the credit union and cooperative movements. With these CUlead spotlights, we're excited to shine a light on these leaders.
This week, we meet Lori Hudson, community outreach specialist at West Community Credit Union (O'Fallon, MO).
How long have you be in the credit union industry?
What is your favorite thing about working at a credit union?
Collaborating. Collaborating with my department, with other employees within my organization, with others in the CU industry, and with organizations within the communities we serve.
What does true leadership mean to you?
Leadership means not going at it alone but empowering those around you to work together to achieve a common goal. It means entrusting in others and believing in them. Leadership is not being afraid to roll up your sleeves and work side by side to get a task done. To be a good Leader, one needs to be open to learning opportunities, for not only yourself but also your team because we never stop learning from our experiences in life.
If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would that be?
Own your mistakes and learn from them.
