Save the date: Feb. 2 for Day at the Capitol

Due to COVID-19 and potential restrictions on Capitol events, your HCUA advocacy team is planning for two different scenarios for our 2021 Days at the Capitol.

We will kick off with a virtual Day at the Capitol event on February 2 for both states. If in-person events are permitted and deemed safe, we will host smaller in-person regional days in both Topeka and Jefferson City. If in-person events are not an option this coming year, the virtual Day at the Capitol event will be followed with remote contact options for our advocates to help build and maintain relationships.

Dates to save until a final determination can be made:

• Tuesday, Feb. 2 – Virtual Day at the Capitol for Kansas and Missouri, including a guest speaker, briefing on the issues and (if regional in-person events can occur) a training session on the key talking points attendees will want to know for their legislative visits.
• Tuesday, Feb. 9* – Wichita-Hutchinson Day at the Capitol
• Tuesday, Feb. 16* – Topeka-Lawrence Day at the Capitol
• Tuesday, Feb. 23* – Johnson County-Leavenworth-Manhattan-Western Kansas Day at the Capitol
• Tuesday, Feb. 9* – St. Louis Region Day at the Capitol
• Tuesday, Feb. 16* – Kansas City Region Day at the Capitol
• Tuesday, Feb. 23* – Springfield-Central Missouri Day at the Capitol

Each of the regional days will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the State Capitol, with guest speakers and meetings with legislators. It will not include an evening reception with lawmakers due to COVID-19.
