Each year, the Heartland Credit Union Association (HCUA) may honor up to four individuals for the positive impact they made to the credit union movement in Kansas or Missouri.

Award Types

Credit union employees illustrate the people helping people philosophy every day. Help us recognize the service of our outstanding professionals! These employees have selflessly given their talent to support of credit unions. They have demonstrated leadership and management abilities for the betterment of credit unions, and their time and effort have improved people’s lives, enriched their community and demonstrated loyalty to the credit union movement. 

Who is eligible? 
Any paid, full-time employee at any level, of an Association-affiliated Kansas or Missouri credit union who has demonstrated leadership and management abilities for the betterment of credit unions. We may honor up to two individuals for the positive impact they made to the credit union movement.

What’s the time frame?
Nominate anyone who has demonstrated the criteria during the past 12-month period.

How are winners selected? 
The Board-appointed Awards Selection Committee may select a nominee(s) meeting the minimum criteria. We will recognize selected nominees at our annual convention. 

How do you know if someone is Professional of the Year material? 
Our review committee will look at the following:

  • Significant achievements and contributions to the credit union movement
  • Leadership and management ability
  • Success in maintaining or improving the financial fitness of his/her own credit union
  • Dedication to and belief in the importance and value of continuing education and training
  • Success in the development and expansion of services to members

Nomination deadline is 5 p.m., June 30, 2017. 

Help us recognize the outstanding service of Kansas and Missouri credit union volunteers, who have given time, effort, and talent to the support and promotion of the credit union idea and the betterment of credit unions. Their time and effort have improved people’s lives, enriched their community and demonstrated loyalty to the credit union movement. 

Who is eligible?
Any volunteer currently serving on the board or committee of an Association-affiliated Kansas or Missouri credit union is eligible. A volunteer is defined as a person who serves a credit union in a volunteer capacity and has not been paid by any credit union for his/her credit union activities during the past 12-month period. No activities as a paid credit union employee should be submitted. We may honor up to two individuals for their dedication and effort given to the credit union movement.

Nominate anyone who has demonstrated the criteria during the past 12-month period.

How are winners they selected?
The Board-appointed Awards Selection Committee may select a nominee(s) meeting the minimum criteria. We will recognize selected nominees at our annual convention. 

How do you know if you are Volunteer of the Year material? 
Our review committee will look at the following:

  • Significant achievements and contributions to the credit union movement
  • Unselfish devotion to his/her duties as a credit union volunteer.
  • Dedication to and belief in the importance and value of continuing education and training
  • Success in maintaining or improving the financial fitness of his/her own credit union.
  • Dedication to and belief in the credit union system as evidenced by involvement at the council/chapter level, or Association or national levels, and participation in other activities to further the organized movement
