Keeping all the HR laws and recordkeeping requirements straight can seem like a full-time job. All HR functions – from recruitment and selection, to hiring and onboarding, to compensation and benefits, to employee relations (policy administration and disciplinary actions) and training – have federal recordkeeping requirements. Proper documentation is crucial. Without it, you are less likely to pass audits by government agencies (DOL, OFCCP, IRS, etc.) and less likely to win lawsuits. This webinar will outline recordkeeping requirements and help you understand how to ensure compliance and the consequences of noncompliance. The webinar will also outline record retention requirements and notification requirements for several federal laws.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Basic recordkeeping requirements for each HR function:  recruitment and selection; hiring and on-boarding; compensation and benefits administration; and disciplinary and termination processes
  • Policies employees must follow, the consequences of not following them, and the documentation required to substantiate your actions
  • Record retention requirements and the rules of personnel file maintenance
  • Laws that require employers to notify employees of their rights and responsibilities
  • Best practices when developing recordkeeping procedures and practices

TAKE-AWAY TOOLKIT

  • Sample audit checklist
  • I-9 audit process white paper
  • Sample record retention policy
  • Personnel file maintenance – dos and don’ts
  • Reference checking dos and don’ts white paper
