Dan lives and breathes financial fitness. He is the sponsor and mentor for Mazuma's Financial Wellness Committee and played a key role in building the CU Change Program that teaches financial wellness concepts and spurs real behavior change. This combines his passion for Financial Wellness and his commitment to education and training.
Dan is a huge factor in Mazuma's business success and instrumental in achieving lending and member success. He started Mazuma’s successful Indirect Lending Program and has been a catalyst for the credit union’s Small Business Banking Program Expansion which helps small businesses in the Kansas City area.
Dan always has the member impact top of mind. The last 18 months, Dan spurred into action to help members who needed it most with disaster skip-a-pay programs, 0% CD-secured loans and Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) assistance.
With Dan's influence and expertise, Mazuma expanded lending to serve more people and in better ways. Mazuma’s average loans per member increased approximately 10.5% and mortgage loans increased 22.3%. Business loans grew 8.3% helping support vital KC businesses. Additionally, delinquencies and charge-offs remained low throughout the year.
While results are important, for Dan, it's more about what those results tell the credit union about how they are living out their purpose. He is constantly thinking about and challenging and inspiring Mazuma staff and volunteers to consider how they can do more to help members and potential members.
