6 Missouri and Kansas credit unions recognized as 2021 state CUNA award winners

Credit unions in Kansas and Missouri do great things for their members and communities every single day. CUNA's national award program honors credit unions' impact on their member and their communities. The awards highlight distinguished credit unions that demonstrate social responsibility, the credit union philosophy, and financial education. The following credit unions are recognized as this year's CUNA winners.

First place winners move on to national judging. Credit unions will be recognized at our Convention & Annual Meeting in October. 

Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service award

Given for external activities to a credit union or chapter/multiple credit union group for its social responsibility projects within the community.

First place

  • Mazuma Credit Union (MO) ($250 million - $1 billion) -2020 Give Back Month
  • CommunityAmerica Credit Union (MO) (More than $1 billion)  - Holiday Pay it Forward

Second place

  • Arsenal Credit Union (MO) ($250 million - $1 billion) -Arsenal Community Impact Fund

Honorable mention

  • Mainstreet Credit Union (KS) ($250 million - $1 billion) - Covid-19 Emergency Assistance Fund

Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service award

Given for internal programs and services that benefit membership, and for the practical application of credit union philosophy within the operation of the credit union.

First place

Honorable mention

Desjardins Financial Education awards

CUNA created the Desjardins program to recognize leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of financial literacy for all ages.  

First place - adult

  • Together Credit Union (MO) (More than $1 billion) - Expanding Reach in 2021

Second place - adult

  • CommunityAmerica Credit Union (MO) (More than $1 billion) - University of Kansas Life Skills

First place - youth

Second place - youth

CUNA award scoring

  • Kansas and Missouri credit union entries will be judged by other state league representatives.
  • You must receive at least 80% of the maximum points to be considered a first or second place winner.
  • Entries with the highest score above 80% of the maximum points receive first place recognition and move on to national judging.
  • Only one entry per category or asset size will move on to the national judging.
  • The next highest score above 80% will receive second place recognition.
  • In the event of a tie, another judge may be asked to judge the entries.
