President/Chief Executive Officer: Kansas Teacher's Community Credit Union (Pittsburg, KS)

Kansas Teachers Community Credit Union (KTCCU) is searching for the right strategic executive to lead the credit union in the role of President/Chief Executive Officer. This person will ensure that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members by identifying the financial needs and recommending the appropriate product, as well as developing an effective team of managers and employees to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. The CEO will be responsible for all facets of managing the credit union, including goal development, implementation, monitoring and reporting, coaching, achievement, strategic planning, budgeting and expense control, business development, risk management, and effective relations with the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, and Regulators. A minimum of 5 years of related progressive experience in a financial environment, in a position of senior or executive management, and supervisory experience. 

KTCCU was chartered in November of 1949 as the Kansas State Teachers Federal Credit Union. For a short period the credit union was operated out of the College Bookstore on the Pittsburg State University campus. In November of 1960, the credit union changed from a federal charter to a state charted and became S.E.K. Teachers Credit Union. At this time the credit union moved to 105 W 5th Street and hired its first full time manager. Currently KTCCU has $120 million in assets and serve over 12,000 members. With a population of 26,000, Pittsburg is the largest city in Southeast Kansas. Pittsburg was established in 1876 by Col. E.H. Brown with the first home built that same year by J.T. Roach. Between 1884 and 1890, the population grew from 4,000 to 6,697. This increase was due to jobs created with coal mining and the railroad. Coal mining was the main occupation at the time, there were 11,835 miners employed by 55 different coal companies. Both businesses and individuals continue to be attracted to Pittsburg’s economic growth. Recent years have seen a substantial increase in both retail services and housing construction. CEO/Manager:  Forbes Field Credit Union (Topeka, KS)

Provide sound leadership and strategic direction regarding all credit union operations, including planning and implementing programs, policies, and procedures. Individually and/or through subordinates provide strategic directions and/or management in all credit union functions including but not limited to: accounting, ALM, business development, compliance, finance, human resources, investments, lending, marketing, operations, retail services, risk management, and security. 

Manage day to day operations of the credit union and establish office procedures to utilize staff most efficiently, promote products and services, provide outstanding member service, and achieve the goals of the credit union. Develop, recommend, and implement financial policies and procedures. Analyze workflow of the credit union on a continuous basis to make changes and improve cost effectiveness. Ensure credit union is in compliance with federal laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration and other state and federal regulatory agencies. 

Supervise a budget for the credit union that is consistent with the overall strategic plan. Evaluate the job performance of credit union staff by providing regular coaching and annual reviews. Conduct Board meetings on a monthly basis to ensure the dissemination of information, exchange of ideas, resolution of problems, discussion of trends, etc. and ensure that information is communicated. Conduct business development activities to promote the growth and development of the credit union. Build positive relationships with the field of membership, and with trade associations and organizations. Manage security and safety for the credit union, with responsibility to analyze security and safety policies and procedures, and alert staff of any changes in a timely manner. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience: Two to Five years of similar or related experience, considerable knowledge of credit union/ banking operations, technology, accounting, and business acumen desired.
  • Education: 4-year college degree or equivalent of similar experience.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in this position. Confidentiality and integrity are imperative as in-depth dialogues and conversations of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature with members, direct reports, and outside vendors are a normal part of this position. Communication involving motivating, influencing, educating, and advising others is also an important piece of this role.

Assistant Vice President of Lending: Electro Savings Credit Union (St. Louis, Missouri)

Electro Savings Credit Union is looking for an Assistant Vice President of Lending. This person will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the credit union’s consumer lending and collection services. The AVP will produce the department’s budgeted loan volume, to insure insurance products are being sold on loans, support the collection department, implement the imaging of all member and loan documentation as needed, to insurance that all approved loans comply with established policies and regulations and credit unio mission and values, and other various tasks. 

Assists the Vice President of Finance in developing short and long-term goals and plans for the Consumer Lending and Collectios department; Develops policies and procedures for lending activities; Conducts periodic reviews of existing systems and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and legal compliance. Initiates improvements in lending which will further the objectives of the Credit Union; Executes established operational goals and ensures that credit union objectives are complemented and supported; Coordinates with other departments to ensure process, procedure, and training is effective, efficient, and embedded; Execute strategies to manage the collections departments ongoing effort to achieve the lowest possible delinquency and charge off ratios; Works with information systems to coordinate processing needs; Coordinates loan training and education for the staff. 

Experience: 5-10 years of similar or related experience
Education: A bachelor’s degree or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. 
Interpersonal Skills: Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities becomes necessary. 
Skills: Prior underwriting experience and knowledge of credit union lending regulations. Must have good communication and supervisory skills. Must have working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software.
