A large distressed loan really hurts credit union profitability.  In today’s increasingly competitive environment, effectively and cost-efficiently resolving distressed commercial or agricultural loans is essential to improving portfolio performance.  Building upon both academic research and “in-the-trenches” experience, this presentation will introduce a “hinge-point” framework that lenders can successfully employ to successfully solve tough problem loans.  It will also cover specific, concrete action items that should be considered at key different phases in the life-cycle of a troubled loan so that the lender may maximize its recovery whether in or out of bankruptcy.
